On Sunday, November 11, Orphan Grain Train--Michigan Branch Manager, Pastor Dave Reed had the opportunity to meet the Bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of South Sudan/Sudan (ELCSS/S), the Rev. Peter Anibati Abia. Pastor Abia was in the United States with other Lutheran Church leaders from around the world celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Lutheran Heritage Foundation.
The Lutheran Heritage Foundation has sent theological books and teachers to help the Lutheran Church in South Sudan for many years. The humanitarian crisis in that part of the world, however, is acute. Pastor Reed and Bishop Abia spoke of the possibility of initiating an Orphan Grain Train--Michigan project in the future for that part of the world.
