Warmth and Love from Up-North

On October 18th, Denny Neumann and Fox Schaedig drove a large supply of goods from Alpena representing gifts from Faith, Hawks; First Congregational, Alpena; Holy Cross, Onaway; Peace, Rogers City; Immanuel, Moltke; Bethlehem, Standish; St. John, Hillman; and St. John's, Rogers City along with multiple boxes of fleece blankets and clothing from Sharon Jack.  The total number of quilts sewn by Lutheran women totaled between 600-700.  We are immensely thankful for the loving support of the Orphan Grain Train mission.

Fox and Denny review the listing of delivered good with Orphan Grain Train--Michigan Warehouse Manager, Sal Brandenburg.

Quilts from Friends in Mt. Pleasant and Midland

Orphan Grain Train--Michigan received a generous supply of quilts today from wonderful people at Zion Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant and from the caring folks at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Midland.  These beautifully made and lovingly contributed quilts are destined for some location in the world where people have overwhelming needs.  These people are also those who are loved by God and redeemed by Christ Jesus.  The humanitarian goods from Orphan Grain Train are always given in His Name.

Distribution to People of Kyrgyzstan in Need

We just received some pictures of the safe arrival of goods to people in Kyrgyzstan. The clothing and medical equipment arrived in February, and eventually in mid-May we were pleased to receive a report of the distribution of those goods. Here are some images of people God cares for in that distant land.

Thanks to Ben Sattelberg for the Trailer

By the generous use of his 16' trailer, Ben Sattelberg enabled us to acquire 53 fifty-five gallon barrels which will be used as repositories for donated goods intended for Orphan Grain Train--Michigan.
The barrels were obtained from Coty's Truck Wash and transported by Jeremy VanTol (right) here with one of their workers.  Decals will be applied as shown below after the tops are removed and the barrels cleaned.

This Time Over 500 Pillowcase Dresses

Karen, Diane, Patricia, and Lynette are ladies of St. John Lutheran Church, Ionia, Michigan who delivered on March 6 over 500 sundresses (sometimes called pillowcase dresses) which they and others lovingly sewed for little girls at Orphan Grain Train destinations where children have so little to brighten their days and have something pretty to wear.
This is not the first such gift from the women of St. John.  700 dresses were given last year.
Such love and kindness!  Thank you.

Our Great Core Volunteers

We say thank you to all our volunteers, but these are our core gals.  They devote so much energy, time, and especially love in all they do.  From left to right: Nancy, Jill, Fran, and Sue!  They don't come any better.

A Beautiful Idea

For Christmas 2019, Betty Kueffner and her family marked as a birthday gift for Jesus the accumulation of 100 hygiene kits they designated for Orphan Grain Train.  Each year the family follows a tradition of doing something special in celebration of Jesus's nativity.  Betty was so thrilled to bring these gifts to us, and we thought it was such a lovely and generous idea and gesture.
