Shipment Loaded and on its Way to Tbilisi, Georgia

On September 29th, a wonderful team of young people and adults gathered at the Orphan Grain Train--Michigan Center to load a 40' intermodal (shipping container) with over 1,600 boxes of humanitarian aid along with medical devices, wheelchairs, bicycles, and more to be sent to the Republic of Georgia and people in need. Our thanks to the eighth grade students of Christ the King Lutheran School and the other many volunteers. This shipment is the fourth international distribution from Orphan Grain Train--Michigan in the last two years.

 

Changing Footprints -- 2,800 Pairs of Shoes to OGT-M

On September 28th, Dave and Karen Kuehnert who serve with Changing Footprints in northern Indiana delivered to Orphan Grain Train--Michigan 230 boxes with approximately 2,800 pairs of shoes.  Changing Footprints gathers and distributes shoes throughout Indiana and shares from their abundance with efforts such as Orphan Grain Train.  We thank them sincerely.

Valley Lutheran High - Family Group Volunteers at OGT-M

On Wednesday, Sept. 22 fifteen terrific students from Valley Lutheran High School took a service day and volunteered for us at Orphan Grain Train--Michigan.  These young Christians pitched in at every task with a cheerful heart.  We shared a devotion before they left, so they will understand what we mean by saying they took seriously the expression from Luke 17:10, "We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty."  We thank the Lord for them.  Here is a video of their generous service.

Not Exactly Next Door but Very Near at Heart

The team of lovely quilters who gather every week to serve together at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Colon, Michigan, gathered around to have a dedicatory prayer for the large load of quilts they dedicated to Orphan Grain Train--Michigan.  The congregation is more than 200 miles away from the Orphan Grain Train Center in Sebewaing, but God worked it out so the quilts could be delivered.  These great caring women represent all those who do so much for the mission of Orphan Grain Train.  Thank you!

Pastor Reed, Branch Manager of Orphan Grain Train--Michigan is with Jeanne Lee and a very imaginative quilt in the making specially to depict Orphan Grain Train.  It is such a clever and colorful idea.  Jeanne is among those so expressive of support and active in promoting God's efforts through Orphan Grain Train.

Good News Ministries, Whittemore

Occasionally (not often), but occasionally the quantity of raw goods (donated clothing, medical equipment, and other received items) dips such that our volunteers nearly exhaust the items in our receiving room at Orphan Grain Train--Michigan.  But then, almost miraculously, a completely unexpected delivery is made.  That happened August 19 when late in the morning of our service day Deacon Mike Sadler and his wife Angie arrived with a trailer absolutely loaded with at least 150 bags of donated clothing from Good News Ministries in Whittemore.  Helping unload (center) is Leila Rish, one of our dedicated volunteers.  We so thank the good and generous givers from Whittemore.  You arrived just in time and we thank God for your encouragement.

 

Abundance and Generosity from Immanuel, Wheeler

On the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost, the loving people of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wheeler delivered 28 Layette Kits, 12 Hygiene Kits, blankets, quilts, and clothing to Orphan Grain Train--Michigan.  Their expression of generosity?  "We're going to do this again!"

Such Generosity from God's People at St. Philip, Owosso

On July 20th, we received such a wonderful delivery of goods from the members of St. Philip Lutheran Church in Owosso.  Their pastor, Pastor Brian Heidt, has been encouraging the people to support the Christian mission of Orphan Grain Train, and they have responded tremendously.  With the love of Christ these gifts will eventually be given into the hands of those for whom God cares.
