Spring 2021 Orphan Grain Train--Michigan

High Rollin' OGT-M
Orphan Grain Train--Michigan received another generous and second great pull-cart from Dan and Linda Haven. The first wagon has been used every volunteer day to transport all filled boxes into the warehouse. Now we have a way to bring bags of unsorted clothing from the receiving room into the processing room Previously we were using an old and hardly serviceable wheelchair. With Havens came Luanne Wegener who has helped with loading each of our first two international shipments, and Shirley Wegener. The wheelchair was left for our next shipment this spring. Picture includes our Branch Manager, Dave Reed.

Six Miles of Boxing Tape
This is what six miles of industrial tape looks like. We are so thankful for the generosity of Dale and Judy Janson and others involved in a Thrivent Action effort at St. Michael, Richville. They made available to us a generous supply of acrylic adhesive. The 96 rolls when calculated came out to six miles! Our volunteers need and daily use the tape to seal boxes sent internationally carrying humanitarian goods. Throughout the short history of the Michigan branch of Orphan Grain Train 3,000 taped boxes have already shipped (to Kyrgyzstan and to Panama). Another 2,000 are finish and waiting our next project destination. Our thanks to Thrivent and to their volunteers.
