Nine Miles of Packing Tape
You probably never wondered what exactly nine miles of packing tape looks like. Now you know. This is just one of the normal expenses for conducting the mercy mission of Orphan Grain Train.
One case of 3-inch acrylic, 2.5 mil, heavy duty adhesive packing tape (each roll consisting of 110 yards) equates to exactly 15,840 feet (or three miles).
Shown here are 144 rolls (three cases) just delivered. Every operational day the constant sound of ripping boxing tape can be heard as boxes are prepared and as filled boxes are taped closed. These rolls will last us until Fall.
Soft Toys are Humanitarian
If you think about it--- What are "essentials"? Basic humanitarian goods such as clothing, shoes, blankets and quilts, and medical devices come first to mind. But what about little children? What do they need when circumstances of life are a struggle to understand? Little boys and girls need someone to cuddle and be a special friend.
That's why soft hand-held toys are among the goods shipped
by Orphan Grain Train--Michigan to areas where families are stressed.
Little children often need so much and ask so little.
Care for Nearest Neighbors
New Salem Lutheran Church (WELS) is a close neighbor, just a block from Orphan Grain Train--Michigan. When learning of the need for a wheelchair at the church, it was generously received by New Salem's pastor, Pastor William Mayhew.
Not only care of those in distant places but answering the needs of neighbors is something we are privileged to meet whenever possible.

Rainbow of Quilts from St. Lorenz
On July 8 a treasure trove of exquisite quilts was delivered to Orphan Grain Train--Michigan from quilters of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church of Frankenmuth. Judy Laux and her husband Wally brought us these beautiful valuables we trust the Lord will see into the hands of those who have very little and need so much.
Rod Bohn stopped to offer help today and was immediately pressed into service carrying in the rainbow of quilts.
How Many Wash Cloths? !!!!
Joyce and Nancy, two of our Orphan Grain Train regular volunteers are astonished at the hundreds .... no, it was perhaps as many as two thousand--or more washcloths sewn by Corrine Farley, a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Alpena.
Among our multiple relief categories is "Hygiene Supplies" to which this abundant supply will be added.
